During the period from 1995-2001 the cases of malignant pleural mesothelioma presented to NEMROCK were 238, but only 56 cases received treatment and assessed. The different therapeutics majors were compared whether chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy had the highest median over survival reaching 10.5 months. Radiotherapy alone must not be used alone as standard treatment as median survival was 6 months. Comparing the different regimens applied (ifosfamide-doxorubicin orplatinum-ifosfamide) they were comparable in terms of median survival (6.5 months, 8 months respectively) but ifosfamide-doxorubicin showed 2 years survival reaching 6.3%.
