They were admitted in the Endemic Medicine Department andthey were referred for esophago-gastroduedonoscopy in thegastrointestinal Endoscopy and Liver unit. Only patients withesophageal varices gradeШ and IV according to Thakeb et al.1988were included. They were grouped in three groups.
