The study included 50 patients complaining of cerebrovascular strokes. Duplex and color coded Doppler is used to examine the extracranial carotid arteries of these patients and sometimes MRA and coventional angiography was used. The study showed the high ability of Duplex and color coded Doppler in demonstrating characters of atheromatous plaques ( including its extension and features ) and grading the degree of stenosis showing its haemodynamic significance.
