Abstract

The elucidation of the hepatitis C genome in 1989 has led to the realization that this virus is a major health problem worldwide. Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative malignancies.80 B-cells NHLs patients was included in this study; 55 male and 35 female. The mean age was 43.2 y. High prevalence of HCV infection was detected in the Egyptian NHL patients as 38 patients (47.5%) were positive for HCV antibodies. There was significant association between HCV antibodies positive patients and low grade NHL. Finally HCV seems to play certain role in the development of B-cell NHL in Egyptian Patient.
