Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess and compare thereliability of the β-HCG & prolactin in cervicovaginalsecretions for the prediction of preterm labor and to determine adiagnostic cut-off value.The sample of the study included 60 pregnant women between25-35 wks of gestation with singleton gestation.The patients were divided into 3 groups :Group I: study group: Pregnant females in PTL without PROM.Group II: high risk pregnancy.with past history of PTL,repeatedabortion,cervical incompetence.Group III:control group:normal pregnancy withoutcomplications.Sample collection of cervicovaginal secretion for : β-HCG &prolactin was done.The patients were followed up till the time of delivery.There were increase in both PRL & β-HCG levels in the studygroup compared to the other 2 groups.
