Abstract

Hallux valgus is the commonest of the foot deformity especially in shoe-wearing population. The elements of the deformity are lateral deviation and rotation of the hallux, prominence of the medial side of the head of the 1st metatarsus (bunion).Recently the ability for surgical repair of the various soft tissue and osseous abnormalities in hallux valgus has improved significantly which allows the surgeon to address even the severest deformities and minimize post-operative care and complications.
