Abstract

Fungal infections are common in PEM because they are immunocompromized. Infections with various pathogens occurred in 55.5% of patients, while fungal infections occurred in 14.4% of them. Candida albicans was the most common fungal pathogen in those patients. Bacterial infections occurred in 85.6% of patients. It was noted that the type and severity of PEM correlated with the incidence of these infections.
