This cross sectional study included 1500 patients suffering from ED. Patients were subjected to full history taking and evaluation by IIEF-5, the results of the present study revealed that mean age of patients was 49 years prevalence and severity of ED was positively and strongly related to aging and age related co morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and IHD with statistically significant values, residence in rural areas and low level of education was associated with increased prevalence and severity of ED with statistically significant values, smoking and LUTS increased prevalence of erectile dysfunction but didn’t affect severity of ED significantly, most of the patients (57.8%) didn’t seek medical consultation except after suffering complete ED. A large percentage of patients utilized PDE5 inhibitors without professional medical consultation. Finally, we recommend educational programs and awareness campaigns at various levels of the community as well as within the healthcare profession for early diagnosis of ED so that therapeutic intervention may be initiated at its milder stages as well as prevention and treatment of diseases underlying ED as diabetes cardiovascular and metabolic syndrome.
