Abstract

Objective: 100 aged male albino rats were followed for 8 weeks. They were divided into; aged controls, streptozotcin-induced aged diabetics, aged diabetics on green tea, aged diabetics on EGCG and aged diabetics on sildenafil + EGCG. Diabetic rats on sildenafil + EGCG showed significant increase of cavernous cGMP, eNOS and significant decrease of MDA compared with other groups. Also diabetic rats on either GT or EGCG showed significant increase of cavernous cGMP, eNOS and significant decrease of MDA compared with diabetic group. Its concluded that GT and or its extract have a potent antioxidant effect and potentiates sildenafil action on the cavernous tissues.
