Abstract

Temporal lobe epilepsy is one of the commonest forms of epilepsy. This study aimed at examining the relation between Interleukin 1-β-511 gene polymorphism and temporal lobe epilepsy, hippocampal sclerosis and febrile seizures. This study included 43 patients with TLE, 20 patients with non-TL epilepsy and 16 healthy control subjects. All patients were assessed using clinical evaluation, EEG, MRI-brain and genetic study of Interleukin 1-β-511 gene polymorphism. There was no significant association between Interleukin 1-β-511 allele 2 (TT) and TLE, HS or FS.
