Objective: The present study was performed to assess the impact of male infertility on the psychological wellbeing, marital & sexual satisfaction of the Egyptian infertile couples.Method: After obtaining their consents, 150 infertile couples answered 3 questionnaires of symptoms checklist 90, index of marital satisfaction (IMS) questionnaire & sexual satisfaction scale (SSS) questionnaire. This was studied in relation to gender difference, duration of infertility & type of infertility. Results: The study showed that some of infertile patients suffer from depression, anxiety, somatization, obsessive compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, low marital & sexual satisfaction. Females were more affected than males. Duration of infertility was associated with increase in anxiety incidence & low sexual satisfaction in males only but not associated with the other disorders for either males or females. Type of infertility also showed no association.Conclusion: Infertility is considered to be distressful life experience & affect marital & sexual life negatively particularly for women. Adequate attention to these patients psychologically is of such importance as physical attention.
