Abstract

A large number of molecular biological factors have been shown to be associated with the invasiveness of HCC and have potential prognostic significance. Tumor angiogenesis is critical to both growth and metastasis of cancers including HCC and has drawn attention in recent years, many angiogenesis related markers such as VEGF have been evaluated and were found to be of prognostic value. The aim of the study was to evaluate the possibility of using VEGF in the follow up of 40 HCC patients treated by locoregional therapy regarding tumor response and occurrence of metastases.
