Abstract

Radiotherapy is involved in the cure of 40% of paent who are cured oftheir malignancy. Good clinical practice, demands that radical courses ofradiotherapy should not be interrupted. Prolongation of any radiotherapytreatment may adversely affect patient outcome. For breast cancer, an adverseeffect on local control and survival if treatment is prolonged more than 7 days .The mechanism is likely to be repopulation of tumor cell due to either a denovo high proliferating fraction or accelerated repopulation occurring inresponse to anti neoplastic treatment. In this study It was found in this trial by using calendula based cream andcreamy soap which are used regularly from the start of the treatment unl 10days after the end of radiotherapy treatment, succeeded to prevent thedevelopment of acute reaction ( dry and wet desquamation ) and also by followup of the patient for about 4-6 months . The number of patients included inthis trial was 20 female patients with breast cancer who had BCS plus RT, onlytwo of them developed acute radiation reaction (10%) and by observation. They had large pendulous breast>1000cm3 they were Diabetic andHypertensive. Also, prevent of interruption of radiotherapy treatment givesgood chance for controlling of breast cancer and prevent the recurrence of theof the disease.
