Abstract

Cranioplasty is the surgical correction of skull defects. Skull defects areof different causes,the most common cause leading to a cranial defect inour civilian life is head trauma.The aim of work is to review the literatureand evaluate the different techniques used for reconstruction of cranialdefects.This work will include the management of ten cases of cranial bonedefects with different methods of reconstruction, in Kasr El Ainy Hospitaland Police Authority Hospital(Agouza) between September 2006 to August2007.Inclusion criteria: defects due to trauma,post opera,ve or residualcongenital deformaties in adults.The result will be evaluated at four to tenmonth post operative for presence or absence of complications mainlyinfection , stability and proper contour of skull.All patients were satisfied with their new cosmetic appearance,out ofthe ten patients ;one patient with postoperative fits(controlled bymedication);one patient with postoperative headache and one patientreoperated with bad surface contour.
