Abstract

Active management of 3rd stage of labor which includes use ofoxytocic drugs, early cord clamping, and placental delivery by controlledcord traction has been demonstrated to be an effective prophylacticmeasure against PPH. This study has shown that use of misoprostol either sublingual orrectal at the time of cord clamping was effective in minimizing theincidence of postpartum hemorrhage in low risk pregnant women in thethird stage of labor, however standard acbolics is more effective.
