Food allergy is mostly a childhood disease. Currently, the management of food allergy is avoidance of the offending foods together with the availability of pharmacologic agents for symptomatic treatment. Food allergy is an adverse reaction to food protein by an immunological mechanism (IgE or non IgE-mediated). Signs can involve all organs, but atopic dermatitis remains the main manifestation.
