Abstract

COPD is preventable and treatable disease with some significant extra-pulmonary effects that may contribute to the severity in individual patients. Anxiety and depression often appear together in patients with COPD. BMI has been reported to be associated with the severity of dyspnea. The aim of the study is to assess relation of depression with BMI in COPD patients. There was statistical significant increase of anxiety and depression symptoms in severe stages of COPD more than moderate & mild stages. There was no statistical significant difference in pulmonary function stages as regarding age, BMI and sex. There was insignificant statistical difference in HADS scores according to age, BMI and sex.
