Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a disorder referring to the clinicalmanifestations of the compression of great vessels and nerves at the base of theneck. The etiology of thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is believed to be acombination of neck trauma plus an anatomic predisposition. The diagnosis ofthoracic outlet compression syndrome is usually made on the basis of anadequate history, physical examination and diagnostic tools. Treatment of TOSdepends on the type, severity, and acuity of the presentation. It can be managedconservatively or surgically. In appropriately selected patients, surgicalinterventions can improve their quality of life over time.
