Abstract

Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were tested serologically in 60 patients of diabetes mellitus type I and 60 control using ELISA technique. The seropositivity for anti–toxoplasma IgG antibodies in the study groups was 45% in diabetes type Ι patients (group1) and 23.3% in control (group2) with p-value=0.012 showing a statistical significant difference between the groups. While, only 3 patients of diabetes type I group were positive for Anti-Toxo IgM with p-value=0.244 showing no statistical significant differences between the 2 groups. In the present study, antinuclear antibody prevalence was tested to determine a possible correlation with Toxoplasma seroprevalence and clinical findings in the diabetic type I patients group and in the control group. Results show that only one patient of diabetes type I (group 1) had positive ANA and one control (group 2) had positive ANA.Thus, no correlation could be deduced from such results
