Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common and severe complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). In our study; we studied the pattern of coronary artery disease in 30 diabetic and 30 non-diabetic patients using MSCT coronary angiography (CTA). Their CTA data were reviewed; their extent, distribution and types of plaques and luminal narrowing as well as pericardial fat volume were evaluated and compared between different sexes. CTA depicted multi-vessel affection and diffuse atherosclerotic pattern, also calcified and mixed plaques were more common in diabetic patients and calcifications occurs earlier than non-diabetics. There was no significant difference between the diabetic and non-diabetic patients regarding the pericardial fat volume
