The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of latex agglutination testing (LAT) in diagnosis of septic meningitis, as well as to identify the frequency of the causative organisms of septic meningitis. The sensitivity and specificity of LAT in relation to culture as a gold standard were 100% and 70% respectively. Out of the 68 CSF samples, only 8 samples (11.8 %) were culture-positive, 5 of which (7.35 %) yielded growth of Streptococcus pneumoniae.
