Background & Rationale: Menopause may have a considerable impact on women's QOL. Amidst the confusion surrounding the use of menopausal hormone therapy for menopause-related symptoms, CAM therapies (specifically Homeopathy) have gained popularity.Objectives: Evaluate effectiveness of homeopathic remedies in the management of distressing menopausal symptoms affecting the QOL.Material & Methods: The study was a prospective, interventional, Single-group analytical trial. Perimenopausal & postmenopausal participants were enrolled from the Family Medicine out-patient clinics, Cairo University Hospitals. The menopause rating scale was used for rating symptoms before & after intervention, evaluating each symptom preliminary at entry, at every visit & at completion.Primary outcome Results: Results show substantial health improvement upon using Homeopathic treatment. Hot flushes, depressive mood, physical & mental exhaustion, joint & muscular discomfort & irritability were the five most frequent complaints in the study sample. Hot flushes & night sweats have significantly highly improved (92.5% improvement), exhaustion (62%). Whilst joint & muscular discomfort has shown (49.23%) improvement. The mean change of the somatic subscore was the highest (75.79%).Conclusion: Homeopathy has been found to significantly improve subjective measures of menopause-related symptoms in frequency & severity decreasing the climacteric distress among perimenopausal & postmenopausal females in this single- group comparative analytical study.
