The facial nerve (seventh cranial nerve) innervates the orbicularis oculi muscle the main the protractor of the eye. Paralysis of orbicularis oculi muscle leads to inability to fully close the eye what is known lagophthalmos. Lagophthalmos is a symptom that brings many complications from disfigurement and simple keratitis to corneal ulcers and in some cases blindness. Such different measures of medical treatment and surgical interferences are known to deal with lagophthalmos; in our thesis study we tried to evaluate lagophthalmos, mention some of these measures and produce retrospective study of twenty cases with lagophthalmos loading the upper eyelid using gold plate in two different techniques implanting it at two different levels from the lid margin.
