Abstract

Objective: The present study was performed to evaluate the use of ultrasound including Doppler analysis of synovial vascularization as an index of synovial inflammation before and after intraarticular treatment with glucocorticoids and to evaluate the ability of ultrasound to detect the treatment response after intraarticular glucocorticoids injection in RA patients. Methods: Fifty adult RA patients with a mean age of 41 years and a mean disease duration of 7.3 years, were subjected to first assessment by history, clinical, laboratory and ultrasonography with Doppler analysis then ultrasonographic guided injection was done with Methyleprednisolone plus Xylocaine. Second assessment with the same parameters after 4 weeks from the injection was done.
