Abstract

Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is essential for survival after intra or out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The greatest guideline changes are in the area of basic life support. The current recommended ratio of chest compressions to breaths is 30:2 in adults and 15:2 in children. Regarding pediatric advanced life support there is caution about the use of endotracheal tubes, laryngeal mask airway is an accepted alternative. No routine intrapartum oropharyngeal suctioning for newborns with meconium staining.
