This study that was conducted on 10 persons as control (group 1), 20 patients of type II diabetes with normoalbuminuria (group2), 20 patients of type II diabetes with microalbuminuria (group 3) and 20 patients with macroalbuminuria (group 4). For all subjects, the following investigations were done in the form of fasting and postprandial blood sugar, hemoglobin A1c, lipid profile, serum creatinine, creatinine clearance, 24 hrs urinary albumin, serum PAI-1 and t-PA.Our laboratory data showed that serum levels of PAI-1were increased in diabetic patients with higher urinary albumin excretion and that PAI-1 had significant positive strong correlation with creatinine & 24 hours urinary albumin and significant negative moderate correlation with creatinine clearance. But PAI didn’t show any other significant correlation. Serum levels of t-PA were increased in diabetic patients with higher urinary albumin excretion. Regarding t-PA, it had significant moderate negative correlation with serum cholesterol and significant moderate positive correlation with 24 hours urinary albumin. But t-PA didn’t have any other significant correlation. Impaired ratio of PAI-1/t-PA in diabetic patients with higher urinary albumin excretion. Regarding PAI/t-PA, it had significant moderate negative correlation with age. But it didn’t have any other significant correlation.
