Abstract

Cardiac surgery with cardierpulmanary bypass (CBP) is associated acute lung injury. Past CPB hypoxemia is belived to be multifactorial. Some of the factors contributing to the development of acute lung injury including atelectasis, increased shunt and alterations in lung and chest wall mechanics. Post CPB hypoxemia may be prevented by the central of inspired oxygen concentration and the type of mechanical ventilation.
