Abstract

There is no doubt that it is important to think about thebenefits of using biodegradable implants in orthopedic surgery.These implants theoretically eliminate the need for a secondoperation .Most of the commercially available biodegradable devicesnow composed of PLLA, PGA.Biodegradable implants are used in orthopedic surgerymostly for fixation of metaphyseal and periarticular fractureswhere loading is relatively low, phiyseal fractures of distalhumers and in repair of labral lesions, meniscal repair, rotatorcuff tears, acl reconstruction.
