Abstract

This is a randomized control trial that was conducted on 43 patients with a total of 62 injured flexor tendons in zone II that were scheduled for primary repair. Patients were assigned to two groups A and B. Group A digits were injected with Hyaluronic acid intraoperatively and at weekly intervals afterwards making a total of 3 injections. Results demonstrated that group A patients had a better functional outcome according to Strickland criteria and that hyaluronic acid was effective on minimizing adhesions. However, Group A patients had higher complication rate particularly infection.
