Despite a long history of research into stuttering disorder, investigators are still mystified as regard the causes of the disorder. This work highlights the recent objective assessment and management tools of stuttering for better anticipation of its prognosis, planning and management. Recent assessment included: chromosomal, neurochemical, neuroimaging and testing orofacial abilities of children who stutter. Recent advances in management of stuttering represent a number of newly introduced measures like the Kassel Stuttering Therapy (KST), some newly pharmacotheraputic agents could be demonstrated to be useful in reducing stuttering, also data showed some degree of fluency enhancing effects of altered auditory feedback (AAF) devices, self-generated visual feedback, in addition to cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT). So assessment and management tools still controversial and liable for further studies.
