Abstract

The present work aimed at evaluation of relative telomerase activity (TA) for its specific association with some malignant hematopoietic cells as well as its diagnostic and prognostic value. Relative TA was measured in 38 lymphoproliferative disorders (13 ALL, 8 CLL and 17 NHL) and in 17 controls using real time PCR Taqman technique. The results showed that relative TA was significantly higher in all patients groups than controls with the highest value in CLL. It was significantly higher in T- cell than B- cell in ALL and higher in patients who died compared to either relapse or the non dead.
