Argon plasma coagulation (APC) is a device intended for thermal coagulation of tissue and has been used successfully in the endoscopic haemostasis of surface bleeding. The aim of this work is the endoscopic and pathologic evaluation of the effect of APC on PHG. This study included 30 patients, 10 of them had mild PHG and the other 20 had severe PHG and underwent APC. Its effect was evaluated within 1-4 weeks, endoscopically and histologically. The 20 patients who underwent APC showed endoscopic improvement while 16 of them showed histological improvement. There were no complications among the patients. In conclusion, APC can be recommended as a safe and effective measure for treatment of severe PHG.
