The direction followed by the facial nerve branches in the face up to the facial muscles has been studied by several anatomists, but no consistent description of them has been given so far. This research, based on dissection of 12 hemifaces, studies the characteristics of these branches after their emergence from the parotid gland, course, relations, branching pattern, and distribution to facial muscles. No fixed common pattern was found, but a fixed course was shown. Thus, suggesting certain measures for facial nerve safety during face surgery.
