Abstract

Spondylolysis is a fatigue fracture in the pars interarticularis due torepetitive mechanical stresses on the spine. Its occurs in about 5-6% ofthe population and young people are more likely to developspondylolysis. Spondylolysis causes low back pain. Investigationsinclude plain x-rays, computed tomography, SPECT and MRI. Treatmentpatterns include conservative treatment, Buck's screw, Morscher's hook,Scott's wiring techniques and cable-screw construct. In all thesetechniques bone graft is used.
