Abstract

Glaucoma is one of the most dangerous diseases in ophthalmology because it leads to blindness. It was formally managed by reducing of intra ocular pressure, now a days there are researches to manage the disease through neuroprotection of the retinal ganglion cell layer, this can be done through preventing apoptosis, glutamate excitotoxicity, nitric oxide, abnormal immune response and other recent approaches. Also through improvement of ocular blood flow which increase oxygenation of the ganglion cell layer.
