Egypt is an endemic area of tuberculosis. Silicosis and silica exposure is the one of the problem that increases the prevalence of TB worldwide. Exposure to silica was known to be increase the prevalence of the risk of active and latent TB; both might be sources of spread of infection in the community.This study was designed to assess the prevalence of TB among workers in pottery craft area. This study showed that 20 workers (28.57%) had tuberculin skin test positive, 17 had radiological changes , 7 of them had a picture suggestive of granuloma, and one with pleural thickness, one with increased cardiac size, and two of them presented with hilar abnormalities.In conclusion, there is increase of prevalence of tuberculosis among workers in pottery craft area; this increased incidence is due to presence of silicosis in those workers, or even due to their exposure to silica in their work. The risk increase by long duration of employment and by advanced age.
