Abstract

The current prospective study was conducted during the period from January 2002 to June 2004 on CRF patients undergoing regular hemodialysis sessions. The study involved 40 patients, their age ranged between 19 and 75 years, with a mean value of 43.25 years + 12.82, they included 25 (62.5%) females and 15 (37.5%) males. Out of 40 patients, 5 bacteraemic cases (12.5%) were detected. Two cytokines’ serum levels were evaluated (TNF-α and IL-1β) among hemodialysis patients. Serum level of IL-1β and TNF-α was significantly elevated in heamodialysis patients as compared to normal controls.
