Stroke is the most common life threatening neurological disease and the third cause of death after heart diseases and cancer. Our study included fifty (50) patients. Thirty seven (37) patients were suffering from ischemic stroke and thirteen (13) patients were suffering from haemorrhagic stroke. In our study, we found that the most common medical complications encountered were GIT complications (constipation, diarrhea, haematemsis, vomiting and melena). At least, one of these was encountered in 80% of patients. The commonest complications were chest infection and urinary tract infection which were encountered in 72% of patients for each. The least encountered medical complications were death, mechanical ventilation and DVT and occurring in 4%, 4% and 6% of respectively.
