Ventricular arrhythmias in children is less common than other types of arrhythmias. However, their importance lies in the fact that they occur in a wide variety of clinical settings and even in normal heart and may carry a risk of sudden cardiac death. This study was undertaken to determine the clinical, ECG characteristics, cause, response to therapy and outcome of 35 patients suffering from significant ventricular arrhythmias as detected by ECG and Holter monitoring. 24 cases with premature ventricular contraction (PVCs) and 11 cases with ventricular tachycardia (VT). The study revealed the benign nature of isolated PVCs, the guarded prognosis and need for treatment for those with VT even on top of a normal heart.
