Thirty patients with the classical homozygous B-thalassemia attending the Hematology clinic, children’s Hospital, Cairo University were evaluated as regards their cardiac function before L-carnitine treatment (oral solution in a dose of 50 mg /kg/day t.d.s. for 50 days) and thereafter.
