Abstract

Purpose: To assess whether topography driven laser in situ keratomileusis can successfully correct irregular astigmatism in eyes with corneal irregularities. Design: Prospective, non-comparative case series. Participants: 50 eyes that showed irregular astigmatism following corneal refractive surgery were divided into two groups. Group one (29 eyes) showed irregular astigmatism with pattern and group 2 (21 eyes) showed irregularly irregular astigmatism. The goal of the treatment was to create a smooth corneal surface with a predictable refractive outcome. Methods: Ablation was performed with the Technolas 217 C-LASIK excimer laser based on preoperative corneal topographic map (Technomed, GmbH, Berlin, Germany) using special software program (TOPOLINK®) and algorithm developed by Technolas (Version 2.9992TL, Bausch and Lomb Surgical Technolas, Munich, Germany).
