Annually, 8 million people become ill with tuberculosis and 2 million persons die from the disease worldwide (WHO 2006).Extrapulmonary tuberculosis was present in 51.8% of all cases which was high compared with the earlier surveys showing percentages ranging between 10 and 40%.This work is aiming to evaluate the frequency of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in period from 1996 to 2006 in Cairo University, TB Outpatient Clinic.The study included 672 patients with extrapulmonary TB from record files of the TB outpatient clinic. They included: Full history, clinical examination, results of sputum analysis for acid fast bacilli, radiograph or CT scan, results of Tuberculin skin test, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, cytological and histopathological results.
