Psoriasis is a chronic relapsing skin condition that can be psychologically and physically disabling. It is characterized by scaly erythematous plaques.Psoriasis treatment includes topical medications e.g. tar, for mild cases, and systemic therapy e.g. methotrexate for moderate to severe cases. Phototherapy is also an established treatment modality for psoriasis.Recently, different types of lasers e.g. excimer and pulsed dye lasers, have been investigated for treatment of selected cases of psoriasis especially, those with localized recalcitrant plaques. Results are promising but need further evaluation to assess their safety and efficacy.
