Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the relation of serum lipids with the severity of depression and risk of suicide. Methods: 100 patients with major depression (50 suicidal and 50 non-suicidal patients) were examined clinically and psychometrically. Serum lipid measurements were done for all patients. Results: There was an inverse correlation between suicide risk and serum lipid profile. Also, non significant correlations were found between serum lipids and severity of depression.
