Abstract

Interscalene block is an effective anesthetic technique that can provide prolonged postoperative analgesia. In this study we evaluated the ultrasound guided nerve detection in interscalene block and comparing it with nerve stimulator guided nerve detection regarding simplicity, safety and efficacy in two groups; Group I (n=30): ultrasound and Group II (n=30): nerve stimulator. Ultrasound guidance offered shorter time to perform the block, faster onset, prolonged duration of analgesia, more patient satisfaction and less morphine consumption.
