DVT in the lower extremity is a life threatening complication in the orthopedic practice and although the knee arthroscopy surgeries can be considered an outpatient surgery, the risk of postoperative DVT was unclear. This work was done on 50 cases to study incidence of DVT after arthroscopic knee surgery. The overall incidence rate of DVT after arthroscopic knee surgery was 2%, compared to the small population group available. We don’t recommend the use of prophylactic low molecular weight heparin prior to knee arthroscopies since the incidence of DVT is very low.
