Recent study has emphasized that the relatively low incidence of infections in patients undergoing autologous transplantation, despite defective lymphocyte reconstitution, could be related to functionally efficient DC. The recovery of mDC and pDC after allogeneic HSCT is slower than after autologous HSCT and is related to acute GVHD.
