Our study found low basic knowledge about menstruation in this age group and Most of girls take their information about menstrual cycles from mothers, sisters and friends. Ninety-three percent of the respondents in this study reported dysmenorrhea, approximately 70% of the sample reported at least one symptom of PMS symptoms and 5–14% of girls had atypical menstrual symptoms that could indicate underlying pathology. In spite of this high frequency of menstrual disorders in the girls, seventy-four percent (74%) considered their periods to be ‘normal’.
