Hormonal contraceptives containing progestins result in a series of morphological changes in the endometruim, including decidualizaion of the stroma with leukocyte infiltrate, atrophy in glands decrease in endometrial proliferation and alteration in the vasculature by inducing changes in uterine artery indices which can be measured using pulsed wave Doppler during ultrasound scanning.
