Septic shock remains one of the most challenging medical conditions, with increasing incidence over the last years. One of the most important features of sepsis is myocardial dysfunction and renal impairment. Aim of the work is to evaluate diastolic dysfunction in patient with septicemia and the correlating myocardial dysfunction with renal function in septicemia.Methods :This is a non -randomized non-controlled prospective study done between Jul. 2009 to Aug. 2010 on 40 patients diagnosed to had various degrees of systemic sepsis admitted to intensive care unit of Mansoura International Specialized Hospital.Results :We found that EDD and ESD were significantly larger in septic shock patients (group B) than patients with SIRS or sepsis(group A) ,In our study we found significantly higher EF,IVRT and DT in group A compared to group B and we found that patients with impaired renal function have more impairment of diastolic function.Conclusion :In conclusion patients with SIRS showed mild diastolic dysfunction while severe form of diastolic dysfunction have been found in patients with septic shock. Patients with impaired renal function have more worse diastolic dysfunction.
